Parents and Coaches,
First, I'm happy to announce that Jarrett Cheek has agreed to be the
MYSA Director of Fields. While the Mebane Rec Dept does the bulk of the
work keeping the complex and fields in top shape (and they do a GREAT
job), there are always seemingly minor things that will crop up on match
days that need to be handled. So, Jarrett will oversee a group of
volunteers that will ensure the field equipment is in working order and
ready for play each weekend. This will include net repair, field line
touch-up, ensuring goals are anchored, benches are where they should be,
corner flags are out for Challenge matches (or referees thankfully
handle this for us during Rec matches!), etc.
As such, we need volunteers to help out on match days (and nights -
usually Friday night and Saturdays) during both Recreation and Challenge
matches. So if you'd be willing to serve as a 'field marshal' for an
hour or two some or all weekends, please let Jarret know at
jcheek16 at triad.rr.com
Rec Coaches - the game balls are in and will be at the concession stand
for you to pick up. These are provided by the Mebane Rec Department each
season. Long time coaches know that in previous years, the match balls
sometimes only lasted for a season at best. So we have worked with the
Rec department to obtain some high quality adidas match balls for this
season. I want to thank not only the Rec Dept for working with us on
this, but also the Mebane Sports Center who gave the Rec Dept a great
price on these balls, which allowed the Rec Dept to provide you with a
high quality ball for your matches.
The Sports Center does a yeoman's job of ensuring many MYSA teams are
properly outfitted on time in the uniforms of their choice each season
and we appreciate all their hard work for our league. Be sure to stop by
sometime (Corner of 3rd St and Clay St) and check out their complete
selection of sporting goods.
Challenge Coaches - Your Spring match balls are also at the concession
stand for pickup.
As we get ready to start match play, a few reminders for parents:
Keep your chairs, blankets, etc TWO YARDS back from the touchline.
Pickup trash when you leave (coaches - clean the bench areas too!)
Keep the cheering positive
Read the rules if you're unsure about them!
http://mebanesoccer.us/rules/MYSA_League_Rules.html
Bring healthy snacks if you're on snack duty
Observe the One-Way arrows in the parking lot
If dropping a child off, make sure they are ready to go as to not hold
up traffic
GO SLOW!!! The complex will be host to thousands of people throughout
the day with hundreds there at any given time. It gets crowded and kids
dart out from cars ALL THE TIME
Turn in fees and paperwork if you haven't already!
Check the website or SoccerLine (304-3107) for weather related updates.
Have Fun!
See you on the pitch!
